Although taking photos and videos on our phones has become an important part of our lives, what we share doesn't have to become a permanent digital record. On many phones, a simple photo means it will take up space in your camera roll forever.
That's why today we're introducing
new View One photos and videos that disappear from chats as soon as they're
opened, giving users more control over their privacy.
For example, you can send View One
a photo of new clothes you're trying on in a store, a quick reply from a
specific moment in time, or something sensitive like your Wi-Fi password.
As with all private messages you
send via WhatsApp, your glance media is end-to-end encrypted so WhatsApp can't
see it. They will also be clearly marked with the new “single use” badge.
After viewing the media, the
message will appear as "Open" to avoid confusion about what was
happening in the chat at that time.
We're rolling out this feature to
everyone starting this week and look forward to feedback on this new way to
share private, invisible media.
You can read more about how to try
it here.
