Chat Lock: Make your most intimate conversations more private

Our passion is finding new ways to keep your messages private and secure Today we're excited to introduce a new feature called Chat Lock that will help you protect your most private conversations behind another layer of security.

Locking a chat moves that thread out of your inbox and into its own folder, accessible only with your device's password or biometric data like your fingerprint. The content of this chat will also be automatically hidden in notifications.

We think this feature is great for people who have reason to share their phone with family members from time to time, or for those moments when someone else is holding your phone for an extra private conversation. You can lock the chat individually or by clicking on the group name and selecting the lock option. To view these chats, go to your inbox and enter your phone's password or biometrics.

In the next few months, we'll be adding more chat lock options, including locking companion devices and creating a custom password for your chats, So you can use a unique password that is different from the one you use for your phone.
