Why is TikTok asking iPhone users for a passcode?

 

TikTok is asking iPhone users living in the US for a passcode. Some iPhone users have complained on the popular social networking site Reddit. They claim that TikTok is asking for a passcode recently to continue using the app. They fear that personal information may be collected through this.

TikTok has been accused of collecting users' online activity history, likes or dislikes. And so the complainants expressed concern that the Chinese video sharing network could collect information from users' devices by collecting iPhone passcodes.

TikTok has not officially commented on asking iPhone users for passcodes. However, many people think that this incident is happening due to the technical error of TikTok app. Several Reddit users have reported that using an updated version of the TikTok app does not cause this problem.

However, many people said that they are facing the same problem even after updating the app.
