WhatsApp provides end-to-end encryption to its users. Simply put, no one knows who you are talking to on WhatsApp except you and the person you are sending it to. Even WhatsApp itself cannot understand these messages. Because they are hidden in secret signals. However, WhatsApp users can be hacked in various ways. If you suspect someone is tracking you on WhatsApp and want to be more secure, keep these five settings on:
1
First check if the chats or messages of the person you are talking to are 'encrypted' or not. To verify this, click on the three dots option while chatting. Then go to the 'Encryption' menu from 'View Contact' and see the green lock symbol to understand that the chat is secure.
2
If you want messages sent to someone to be automatically deleted from WhatsApp, that can also be done. For that again you have to go to the three dots option and click on the disappearing message. From there, if you set a specific time, the messages will be deleted from WhatsApp after the specified time.

If you want to be more secure, you can also enable 'end to end encryption' where WhatsApp messages are backed up. As a result, companies like Google and Apple will not be able to see your messages. To turn it on, go to Chats option from WhatsApp settings. End-to-end encryption can then be enabled with a password by going to Chat Backup. But remember, if you forget this password, there is no other way to retrieve the data from Google.

If you want, the chat of the person you are talking to can be locked. As a result, even if someone gets hold of your phone, they will not be able to read your sent messages. To do this, go to View Contacts and enable the Chat Lock option. After that, a menu called Locked Chat will appear on the WhatsApp screen (homescreen). You have to unlock it every time to chat.
